Elephants have a acute sense of smell in some cases better than those of blood hounds

while standing, the front legs lock to support the heavy body

An elephant will drink daily if water is regulary availible

Although poached for their ivory we have never lost any Elephant due to ilegal hunting

The trunk is a extremely dextrose organ containing twelve thousand muscle bundles

The skin is extremely sensitive to biting insects therefore the tail assists in keeping the animal rid of insects

Tusks are often used to rest the very heavy trunk during midday breaks

Elephant also feed at night approximitly 22hours out of 24hours per day

Water is normally consumed during the early part of the morning and late afternoon but not during night time

Long eyelashses assist in protecting the eyes against branches and thorns

Cloudy and overcast days they spend longer hours feeding due to cooler temperatures

By the size of the tusk this individual is between to and three years old

Theis smell is inhanced by lifting their trunks and testing the air

At the end of the trunk two finger like tips can minipulate very small objects the size of a peanut

Elephants love water and they will regulary swim during hot summer days

Water is sucked up into the trunk and is then blown back into the mouth to be swallowed

During mud baths they almost cover themselves totaly in mud

The estimated age of elephants is roughly calculated at one foot ivory for every 15Years of age

Grass makes up for the majority of elephants diet in summer.
