A chopper flying in order to locate the wild black rhino

Once found a veterinarian darts the animal with a sedative to immobilize it

A blanket is carefully wrapped around the animal’s eyes to prevent eye injuries during the relocation process

The sedated animal is loaded into a specially adapted trailer

Once inside the trailer the sedated animal is awakened for the transport

At the relocation site the trailer is parked next to the new enclosure where the rhino will be offloaded

Once the animal is offloaded it spends a minimum of three months in an enclosure before the release can take place

Enclosures are designed to move the rhino on a daily basis to allow for the cleaning and feeding of the animal in one section of the enclosure

After several days the animal starts relaxing and adapting to the new surroundings, climate, weather, water and food

The release concludes a successful reintroduction of this, Africa’s rarest big mammal species
