An elephant cow showing early signs of a huge abscess starting in her vulwa

The sedated animal is injected with a series of antibiotics

A small stick is placed between the two fingers of the trunk to avoid the closing of the trunk during the sedation and causing the animal to suffocate

During the operation the animal was also checked for any other possible injuries

A close up photograph of the full extend of the abscess

The veterinarian operating

Taken from behind after the abscess has been drained

The full extend of the magnitude of the operation

A few days after a successful attempt to treat this cow
